MARGARET CRAWFORD
The main focus of Margaret Crawford's watercolors is the play of shadow on flowers. She paints blossoms dramatically and larger than life. Her backgrounds develop in an abstract manner. The main subject is completed realistically through the use of subtle glazes of transparent color. Other favorite subjects are gardens and architectural details. She finds material for her paintings in towns up and down the East Coast.

DON
HATFIELD
Don
Hatfield is one of the most innovative impressionists of our
time. His style of painting softly blends figures of realism
with the gentle touch of classic impressionism. Don strives
to create paintings that bond themselves to the viewer. In
the vein of romantic impressionism, he shows the viewer that
beauty can arise from one stirring moment: a family reunion,
a young boy searching for shells on the beach or the warmth
of the sun touching a mother and her child.

ALAN
S. BROWN
Whether
Alan Brown is painting portraits or his own more personal
work, he has always been obsessed with the figure. His style
of painting varies greatly from one body of work to another.
Some work is painted in a very tight rendering style and other
paintings have a loose expressionistic style. "No matter how
photo-realistic or expressionistic my paintings are, the content
of the work is forever subordinated by form and color. Meaning:
I want a beautiful painting with strong composition and decisive
color and the message of the work is secondary."

PATRICIA
HUTCHINSON, Ph.D.
“I
paint figures in environments, but I’d say
that what I’m really interested in is people
and how they present themselves to the world. Nothing
is more touching to me than a person taking the
risk of performing for others—expressing
him or herself to what might be a hostile audience....
I am fascinated by the emotional and physical energy
they exchange with the environment in which they
are performing, to which music, rhythm and light
are also major contributors."

M.
BARBARA WARD
Barbara
loved painting outdoors, mostly with watercolor. She rarely
prepared a sketch. Her images depict streams, farms and factories
in and around Johnstown, PA. where she lived most of her life.
Babs, as her family knew her, explored the translucency, freedom
and spontaneity inherent to watercolor.
