Biography

Eva Milinkovic is a glass artist who looks to science and nature for inspiration. Using organic and fluid forms to communicate her ideas, her work reflects her interest towards designed art objects.

After working in the commercial photography business for several years, Eva Milinkovic made the transition from photography to pursue her love of blown glass at the Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design. After graduating with honors and several awards in 2001, she was accepted into the glass studio at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto where she completed her residency in 2004. Currently Eva owns and operates her own glass studio in Windsor, Ontario with her husband and business partner Kriston Gene.

Artist's Statement

“My glass work centers on an idea of good design. I believe that any good design requires a concept, whether or not its purpose is sculpture or function. I push myself to explore the world around me, creating new form and the opportunity for new applications.

My work evolves with each piece and project as I explore new techniques and materials. I am currently exploring the workings of the body and reproduction in my blown, slumped and engraved glass work. Brought up by a mechanical and chemical engineer, my interests in scientific ideas are deep routed.

I am inspired by the honesty of architecture, the cleanliness of industrial design, and the possibilities of science.”
