Alan Brown has a long-standing career as a professional artist. He has exhibited extensively in the New York metropolitan area. Alan Brown has a M.F.A. from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn; and a B.S. in Fine Art from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs. His focus is centered on oil painting. Alan is a member of the Somerset Art Association and the Woodbridge Art Group. Alan Brown's style varies from photo-realistic to expressionistic, always with the figure as his central focus. Alan explains, "My recent work examines humanness in relation to the natural world. The visual interplay is between figure, pattern, and object. The objects and patterns in my paintings serve always to reflect back upon the figure." Alan is an accomplished portrait painter; he has had numerous commissions for paintings. His portraits of judges and children are sought after. Alan Brown indulges personal expression through pastels, oils, watercolors, and printmaking-especially etching. Alan states that Matisse and Picasso influence his art. He has had success as a graphic artist and web designer. Alan Brown has received a top award from The American Artists Professional League and an Honorable Mention at the Monmouth Museum.
